In April 2020 our brand new treatment and recovery services in Staffordshire went live, providing a safe environment in which people can develop their life skills, and confidence to achieve and maintain recovery and abstinence from their substance misuse, successfully re-integrate into society, and become active, contributing citizens.

We work in a variety of locations throughout Staffordshire and this is an opportunity to not only deliver clinical and prescribing services in a supportive environment, but to be involved in shaping the service to ensure the people of Staffordshire receive the best possible support.

Main duties of the job

This role will be based in Burton on Trent and may be required to work across 2 sites.

Humankinds clinical teams are supported by a multi-disciplinary Clinical Department. Regular clinical supervision, appraisal and support with revalidation is available, as well as generous CPD time and annual leave.

Person Specification



  • Qualified Nurse or Pharmacist with current and valid registration
  • Independent Prescriber qualification
  • Previous experience of working with substance misusing service users
  • Previous experience of assessing service users and prescribing effectively and to best practice to meet clinical and psychosocial need
  • Ability to act as a service user advocate
  • Excellence at working in a team environment
  • Excellence at working autonomously to a high level of responsibility
  • Excellent evaluation and prioritisation skills
  • Generation and implementation of initiatives
  • Awareness of social context of drug misuse and the wider implications of the behaviour


  • Awareness of national strategies impacting on drug and alcohol services and role of Independent Prescriber
  • Understanding of complexities of primary health care and the constrictions and opportunities inherent in the primary care sector
  • Understanding of the differences between the private and the public sector roles and responsibilities
