Forward Leeds is the 2nd biggest Drug & Alcohol Service in England and is made up of several key partners including Humankind, enabling the development of a peer-led, recovery community.
We provide a safe environment in which people can develop their life skills, and confidence to achieve and maintain recovery. By abstaining from their substance misuse, individuals are able to successfully re-integrate into society, and become active, contributing citizens.
We have vacancies for NMC registered, qualified NMPS to join us in Leeds to provide a range of drug and alcohol medical interventions and services.

Main duties of the job
Be a first level registered nurse
Have at least three years post-registration clinical nursing experience, of which at least one year immediately preceding their application to the training programme should be in the clinical area in which they intend to prescribe.
Nurse independent prescriber qualified and be within a substantive post
Must have a minimum of one years experience in delivering evidence based treatments in Substance Misuse
Full NMC-UK Registration and Licence to Practice
Holds additional RCGP Qualifications Level 1 (and 2 or willingness to work towards)
Ability to work as service user advocate

Job responsibilities
Clinical provision, service operation and Development
Undertake service user centred: assessments, care planning and delivery, monitoring, evaluation and reviews in practice and outreach settings, including Blood borne Virus (BBV) management (risk assessment, pre and post-test counselling, testing and immunisation), assessments, including general health assessments, health care planning and delivery, monitoring, evaluation and reviews, urine toxicology and blood testing.
Deliver health promotion and harm reduction interventions in a client-centred manner
Assist in co-ordinate and delivery of immunisation testing and vaccination programme
Co-ordinate and deliver call and recall services for Hepatitis B and Hepatitis A immunisations, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and HIV testing
Contribute to the maintenance of client clinical databases
Deliver advice on safer sex, contraception, nutrition and healthy living
Prescribe cost effectively and according to best practice and national and local policy
Liaise with pharmacists regarding supervised dispensing and prescription queries
Share care with GPs for clients in Primary Care Extended Services (PCES)
Provide prescribing information and advice to Pharmacy and Shared Care GPs
Be familiar with and adhere to service and statutory guidelines and policies
Complete Blood Borne Virus pre/post test counselling and immunisation.
Co-ordinate and deliver call and recall services for Hepatitis B and Hepatitis A immunisations, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and HIV testing
Work in collaboration with the local NHS hepatology service and Clinical Nurse Specialists
Provide data for planning and participate in; strategy planning, service needs assessment, clinical effectiveness review, service framework development and implementation, as needed
Participate in external and internal sub groups and take responsibility for production or co-production of plans and reports, as requested
Lead specified projects with responsibility for completion, as appropriate
Adhere to statutory and best practice parameters in development of strategies, policies and guidelines
Participate in/promote service wide or local clinical audit.
Implement findings/changes where indicated
Ensure all serious untoward incidents (including Drug Related Deaths) are reported, implementing any service changes arising.
Disseminate learning across the Hub
Participate in the process of clinical audit and study of the drug and alcohol service
Collaborate on clinical governance, review and implementation of policies and guidelines
Contribute to the development of joint working with local provider organisation.
Assist continued involvement with national and local research projects, as appropriate
Represent the service and maintain corporate knowledge base regarding community services.
Participate in the co-ordination of strategies for integration of health and social care, as appropriate
Participate in own annual appraisal, training needs analysis, CPD, and performance review if indicated.
Complete mandatory training
Promote and maintain an environment of honesty and openness in interpersonal relationships within the organisation.
Participate in co-ordination of data entry and retrieval searches and reports to meet the internal and external service requirements, managing the process to comply with all deadlines, as appropriate.
